About the Class
Primary Learners is a one-hour, research-based literacy enrichment class for kindergarteners designed to strengthen the foundational skills that lead to successful reading. Instruction is intentional, focused, and playful, providing children with repeated practice with the building blocks of literacy.
Each class targets key early reading skills, including phonemic awareness (hearing, blending, segmenting, and manipulating sounds), letter–sound correspondence, early decoding and word building, oral language development, and fine-motor skills that support writing. Skills are taught using multisensory activities and purposeful repetition to help learning truly stick.
Classes are intentionally small to provide individualized support, immediate feedback, and meaningful practice at each child’s pace. Primary Learners works alongside your child’s kindergarten instruction by reinforcing essential skills in a confidence-building environment.Flexible drop-in options are available to meet your family’s schedule, making it easy to add high-quality, targeted literacy support when your child needs it most.
This class is a great fit for kindergarteners who:
• benefit from extra practice with sounds, letters, and early reading skills
• are building confidence as early readers
• thrive with small-group instruction and clear routines
• enjoy hands-on, playful learning experiences
• would benefit from reinforcement of classroom instruction in a focused settingClass Options

About the Class
Mini Learners is our playful, 90-minute afternoon literacy class—perfect for preschoolers who are ready for a little more after their morning preschool day. This class is a mini version of our full-year morning program, featuring a slightly more relaxed atmosphere to complement the afternoon energy of young learners.
Each class focuses on letter knowledge—recognizing letters, their names, and sounds—as well as phonological awareness, which is the essential skill of hearing and manipulating sounds in words. Research indicates that phonological awareness is the most significant predictor of future reading success. We explore these foundational literacy skills through interactive centers, movement-based games, songs, and hands-on activities, making learning both joyful and engaging.
Whether your child needs extra practice with letters or enjoys learning through play, Mini Learners is an excellent way to extend their preschool day with purpose.

FAQ'S
Over the years, we have experimented with class sizes and found that a class size of five is ideal for fostering a focused, personalized learning environment. This small class size allows us to tailor our instruction to each student's specific needs. Additionally, it helps minimize distractions in the classroom, creating an optimal setting for developing foundational literacy skills. This approach is one of the many ways TFLC stands out from other local programs
We understand the importance of flexibility in your child's learning journey. You can sign up for classes as frequently as your schedule allows. There is no limit or mandated number of times you must commit to.
Our classes are meant to supplement your child'skindergartem classroom experience. Whether your child needs additional support or loves literacy, our classes are the perfect fit.
Most of our families attend a local kindergarten class. TFLC was designed to complement existing kindergarten programs, not replace them. That said, each year we welcome a couple of homeschooling families who choose to use our classes as part of their child’s early learning experience.
