Welcome!

Our Goal
I am so excited to introduce you to The Friends Learning Center. My vision for the Center is to provide a nurturing environment where early learners learn, engage, and have fun. I want little ones to love coming to our learning center just as much as I love seeing them enter our classrooms.
Our playful learning classes follow a "learn-by-doing" approach. We focus on developmentally appropriate skills that your early learner will utilize come kindergarten and beyond!
Key Skills Focused
Our Center
Our center is located in Avon, Connecticut. We are so excited to be offering literacy classes for early learners to the Farmington Valley.
Mommy & Me Style Classes
Designed for our littlest learners, these caregiver-child classes are a playful introduction to the world of literacy. Children build early learning foundations while forming special bonds with their grown-up and new friends.
6-Week Literacy Classes for Preschoolers
Perfect for families looking for flexibility, these classes introduce preschoolers to letters and sounds in a fun, engaging way.. They're an excellent option for exploring literacy foundations without the full-year structure.
Our Year-Based Literacy Program For Preschoolers
This is our most popular offering for preschoolers! Classes go beyond letter recognition building phonological and phonemic awareness—key predictors of reading success—while helping children grow in confidence and readiness for kindergarten.
Trial Classes
Would you like to experience the magic of our classes firsthand?
We offer complimentary trial classes for prospective students. Each class is 2 hours long, and all students must be potty trained. Since trial classes will be with our current students, this is a drop-off class. Your child must be able to attend the class without a caregiver. Mrs. Faust will be available after the class to chat and answer any questions.
From Our Founder & Director
Here's a little about my journey to opening the center. Over twenty years ago, I received my master's degree in special education from CW Post University on Long Island. I then spent many years teaching in the early childhood field. I have worked in various New York and Connecticut preschools and elementary schools with students aged 2-8.
During my career, I taught inclusion preschool classes and provided Birth-to-Three services to many children in the New York area. I also spent time as a resource room teacher at an elementary school. This is where I developed my passion for teaching literacy to young learners. Then, I went on to teach an "extra year of time " class, teaching preschoolers and preparing them to enter kindergarten at a local preschool in the Farmington Valley. Throughout my time working with early learners, I discovered my passion and realized I was meant to be a teacher. I love working with and supporting young learners as they embark on their journey through the early childhood years. It is why I wanted to open The Friends Learning Center in Avon.
Nowadays, I am a mom to two college-age girls who inspire me every day. My experiences as a mom played a part in my decision to open The Friends Learning Center. I have been exactly where you are today - my girls were once just like your little ones. I understand the challenges and struggles of wanting your child to be prepared for kindergarten and beyond, both socially, emotionally, and academically. You will find me teaching most of the learner classes here at TFLC. I am so excited to help meet the needs of early learners and their families in the Farmington Valley.
